Amino resins are the type of thermosetting polymers. These amino resins are used in certain applications in engineering and daily use. In here, we explain the general and mechanical properties of amino resins, and applications of amino resins.
What Are The Properties Of Amino Resins?

Melamine-formaldehyde can ve very good respresentator for amino resins. Melamine-formaldehyde contains the monomers of melamine(C3H6N6) and formaldehyde(CH2O). Tensile strength of melamine-formaldehyde is around 50 MPa and elasticity modulus of melamine-formaldehyde is 9000 MPa. As other thermosetting polymers, melamine-formaldehyde is brittle. Elongation value of melamine-formaldehyde is less than 1% according to its original shape. Production method of melamine-formaldehyde is step condensation method.
What Is Amino Resin?

Amino resins take their name from amino group(NH2) and amino resins are produced from two of thermoplastic materials; urea-formaldehyde and melamine-formaldehyde. These two thermoplastics are also produced from reaction of urea and melamine with formadehyde. There are also another formaldehyde resins are avaliable in polymer market such as phenol-formaldehyde.
Melamine-formaldehyde has very good water resistance. Because of this property, melamine-formaldehyde is used in dishwares and other coatings that where water resistance is important.
Urea-formaldehyde is also used as adhesive materials in plywood and particle-boards.
If the amino plastics are used in molding, they must contain significant proportions of filler materials.
These are the general information about amino resins. Do not forget to leave your comments and questions about amino-resins and it applications adn properties below. Your precious feedbacks are very important for us.
