How To Define Rotational Velocity In ANSYS® Mechanical?(Illustrated Expression)
If you want to add rotational velocity to a part or component in ANSYS® Mechanical, click on the analysis tab shown by the red arrow above which is ‘Static Structural’ here, then click ‘Insert’ in the red box above. There will be a list opened, click on ‘Rotational Velocity’ as shown by the green arrow.
After clicking on ‘Rotational Velocity’ in ANSYS® Mechanical, select your components and bodies that will be rotated as in the green box. You just need to select bodies and parts, then click on the ‘Apply’ button on ‘Geometry’. There are two option to define rotational velocity to selected components in ANSYS® Mechanical;
- Vector: As you see above, you need to select an axis of rotation from geometry or coordinate systems as shown by the blue arrow above. Then you need to select the direction of rotation as shown in the blue box above. The direction of rotation will be changed if you click on that ‘Arrow icon’. And click on ‘Apply’ at ‘Axis’. Enter your rotational velocity ‘Magnitude’ as shown in the red box.
- Components: You can define your axis of rotation as components if you select ‘Define By’ as ‘Components’ as shown by the green arrow above. Then you need to enter X, Y, and Z magnitudes of rotational velocity as shown by the green box. Then you need to select the place of the axis by entering X, Y, and Z components again as shown in the red box. The resultant is shown by the yellow arrow in ANSYS® Mechanical.
