Countersunk Holes in Siemens NX – Illustrated Explanation
How to Create Countersunk Holes in Siemens NX?
In this article, we will show you how to obtain standard-sized countersunk holes in parts of Siemens NX. You know that we use the standard holes in machine parts and also countersunk holes are generally used for bolt assemblies in mechanical systems. So, Siemens NX has a special tool to obtain these standard-size holes. We start with how to drill standard countersunk holes to parts by using the Hole command in Siemens NX.

How to Drill Standard Countersunk Hole in Siemens NX?

Firstly, to drill a standard-size countersunk hole to parts in Siemens NX, you need to click on the Hole command as shown by the red arrow above.

Secondly, you need to specify hole locations on the Siemens NX part by clicking on the Points dialog as shown by the red arrow above.

And then, you need to select the whole hole locations that you want to drill countersunk geometry, you need to just click on the locations as shown b the red arrows above. After that, click on the Finish button as shown by the red box above in Siemens NX.

And then, to drill countersunk holes on Siemens NX parts, select the Countersunk form from the Form And Dimensions tab as shown by the green box above.

Define the Countersunk Hole Parameters
Also, you need to specify your countersunk hole dimensions in Siemens NX;
C-Sink Diameter: It is the diameter of the head of the countersunk geometry as shown by the red arrow.
C-Sink Angle: It is the head angle as shown by the green arrow above of countersunk hole geometry.
Diameter: It is the body diameter of the counter sunk geometry as shown by the blue arrow.
Depth: It is the total depth of the countersunk hole as shown by the yellow arrow.
Tip Angle: Countersunk hole cone’s angle as shown by the orange arrow.

And then, you can select a Depth Limit method to drill countersunk holes as shown by the red box above:
Value: Enter a depth value for the countersunk hole.
Until Selected: It drills the hole up to the selected feature.
Until Next: It drills the countersunk hole up to the Next feature.
Through Body: It drills the whole body that countersunk hole geometry belongs.

You can adjust the depth of the countersunk hole as shown in the red box above;
Cylinder Bottom: 40mm depth will be adjusted according to the cylinder bottom.
Cone Tip: 40mm depth will be adjusted according to the cone tip.
Finally, after you are done with the adjustments for your countersunk hole drilling operation in Siemens NX, click OK or Apply to complete it.

We drilled countersunk holes to the Siemens NX parts as above.
Conclusion
Above all, creating countersunk holes in Siemens NX is very simple.
