In most applications and software, filtering of objects and other things in complex works can be very useful. Also ANSYS® Mechanical has a very useful filtering tool that you can use it. For example, if you are working with a very complex project in ANSYS® Mechanical such as you have lots of geometries, boundary conditions, connections, coordinate systems, etc. But you want to update an object from all of these crowd. You can do this from the ANSYS® Mechanical filtering tool. Here, we explain how to use this filtering tool in ANSYS® Mechanical with a very basic example below.
How To Use ANSYS® Mechanical Filtering Tool?

As you see above, you can select the type of analysis tree objects from the pop-up list as shown by the red arrow above. You can select one of them to show only this selected type of object in the ANSYS® Mechanical tree.
If you select ‘Name’, you can directly enter the name of the object to find it from the ANSYS® Mechanical tree outline. Also if you select ‘Tag’, you can search your item from the outline tree with its tag.
If you select ‘Type’ you can find out the objects or object group according to its type. You can select the type from the second list which are; Results, Boundry Condition, Connections, and Commands.
‘State’ also has the same logic with ‘Type’ that you can filter the objects according to their state in ANSYS® Mechanical; Suppressed, Underdefined, Not Licensed, Ignored.
All thecoordinate systems will be listed if you select ‘Coordinate Systems’ from this filtering list in ANSYS® Mechanical.
As you know the ‘Model’ section contains geometries and bodies. If you select ‘Model’ from the filtering list, all the geometries sub-assemblies will be shown.
Graphics show the informative situations of ANSYS® analyses. You can select the ‘Graphics’ from the filtering tool to show all the graphics available in ANSYS® Mechanical outline tree.
