Making Chamfers In Autocad(Illustrated Expression)

Chamfering of geometries is generally exist in every CAD tools on market. Because chamfered geometries are frequently used in various manufacturing operations. Also in Autocad, you can chamfer your 2D geometries with ‘Chamfer’ command. In this article we explained how to make chamfers to 2D sketches in Autocad with a very basic example below.

How To Use ‘Chamfer’ Command In Autocad?

Click on ‘Chamfer’ command in Autocad.

Chamfering 2D geometries in Autocad is very easy process. To do it, click on little pop up menu as shown by red arrow above in Autocad then click on the ‘Chamfer’ command as shown in red box above.

Click on ‘Distance’ option in ‘Chamfer’ command.

After entering into the ‘Chamfer’ command in Autocad, click on the ‘Distance’ option as shown by red arrow above.

Enter the first distance value of chamfer in Autocad.

If you select the ‘Distance’ option, enter the first distance value of chamfer geometry, then press Enter button from your keyboard as shown by red arrow above in Autocad.

Enter the second chamfer distance in Autocad.

Enter the second chamfer distance value then press Enter again.

Select the first and second edges to place the chamfer.

We entered first and second distance values. Select the first edge that the distance of chamfer will be the first distance as shown by red arrow above in Autocad. Then select the second edge that will be the second distance as shown by greena arrow.

Click on ‘Angle’ option of ‘Chamfer’ command.

If you select the ‘Angle’ option in ‘Chamfer’ command as shown by green arrow in Autocad, you need to enter a distance value first then an angle value secondly. The first distance will be at the first selected edge, and the second selected edge will bi defined with entered angle value which will be ‘distance*sin(angle)’.

Select the ‘Multiple’ option in ‘Chamfer’ command.

If you do not select the ‘Multiple’ option, you can use the chamfer for one time. If you select ‘Multiple’ option as shown by green arrow above, you can make your chamfers geometries consecutively without leaving the command.
