In this article we will show you how to stretch sketch entities in Solidworks with ‘Stretch Entities’ command with a very basic example above.
How To Use ‘Stretch Entities’ Command In Solidworks?

To use the ‘Strecth Entities’ command in Solidworks sketching, you need to be inside an active sketch as above. For example we want to strecth the rectangle shown by green arrow above. To do this, click on little pop-up menu as shown by red arrow then click on ‘Stretch Entities’ inside green box.

After entering into the ‘Stretch Entities’ command, we selected the three of edges of rectangle to stretch it from red box as shown by red arrows above. We did not selected the edge that shown by blue arrow above. If we selected this edge, the whole rectangle geometry will be moved like in ‘Move Entities’ command. But in this case, the rectangle is stretched according to unselected edge.
There are two types of strecthing methods;
If you select the ‘From/To’ method as in blue box for stretching, you need to define a base point as shown by green arrow above. Then you need to move that base point with your mouse to stretch the geometry.

If you select th second method of stretching ‘X/Y’ as in green box above, you need to enter the stretch distance values in X and Y coordinates respectively as shown by green arrows above in ‘Stretch Entities’ command.
To complete the stretch of the sketch entities with ‘Stretch Entities’ command, click on little green yes button at the left-top.
The use of ‘Stretch Entities’ command in Solidworks sketching to move sketches is easy like that. Leave your comments and questions below about ‘Stretch Entities’ command in Solidworks!
