Suppressing Objects In ANSYS® Mechanical

Suppressing is quite different from hiding objects or conditions in ANSYS® Mechanical. Suppressing deletes the effects of the suppressed object from the analysis. And this suppressing process can affect the other elements in the analysis tree at ANSYS® Mechanical. For example, if you assign a force on a body in ANSYS® Mechanical and if you suppress this body, the effect of force also be deleted from the analysis.

But suppressing does not delete the objects from the analyses tree. It only deletes the effects on analyses in ANSYS®. Suppression is very easy in ANSYS® Mechanical. Here, we have shown the suppression of elements and objects from ANSYS® Mechanical with a very basic example below.

How To Suppress A Body Or Objects From ANSYS® Mechanical?

Suppressing of an object in ANSYS® Mechanical.

Suppression is very basic in the ANSYS® Mechanical tree. You just need to right-click on part or object that you want to suppress as shown by the red arrows above. Then click on ‘Suppress’ to suppress it in ANSYS® Mechanical.

There is a blue X icon that appears beside the suppressed object in ANSYS® Mechanical as shown by the red arrow above. If you want to know about the meanings of other icons in the ANSYS® Mechanical outline tree, click on the given link.

You can unsuppress the suppressed parts or objects in ANSYS® Mechanical. It will recover all the effects again. To unsuppress a part in ANSYS®, just right-click on the suppressed part, then click on ‘Unsuppress’ as shown in the red box above in ANSYS® Mechanical.
