Heat flux is a very important phenomenon of thermal systems. Engineers deal with thermal systems where the heat flux of the system must be examined. ANSYS® provides a solution tool to see the heat flux result of a thermal system.

How To Examine Heat Flux Results In ANSYS® Mechanical?

First of all, you need to define the required boundary conditions for your physical model and you need to obtain the required mesh structure. After these, you can see the heat flux result. You can also apply heat flux as a boundary condition. 

Click on the ‘Total Heat Flux’.

To insert the ‘Total Heat Flux’ result, just right-click on the ‘Solution’ tab then hover your mouse on the ‘Insert’ tab. And click on the ‘Total Heat Flux’ from the ‘Thermal’ menu.

Heat flux is the total energy transition per unit area. Which has generally the unit of ‘W/m^2’.

You will have the heat flux result as contours like above in ANSYS®. You can use the various tools to monitor the contours and you can add these contours to your solution reports.
